Long Point Campground, at the far end of Long Point Road — about 1/2 mile (1 km) from the Weetock Trail crossing — is a small camping area with an outhouse. It also provides river access for launching canoes or kayaks; or any boat you can carry to the water. The actual boat ramp is up the river a few miles at Haywood Landing.
There is a limit of 14 consecutive days at Long Point. I believe you must then stay away for 30 days before you can return. Some people take advantage of the site as a place to camp in their vans and RVs, so I don’t often camp there, as I prefer more primitive camping. I’ve been there when someone fired up their generator for an hour to microwave a chicken! It’s also common for people to run their engines in order to use their A/C in hot weather.
I do often launch my kayak from Long Point. It provides access to the White Oak and Hunters Creek, which is about 2.5m (4km) downstream.
