In case you missed my previous post, there is a burn ban starting March 21 and expiring June 30. In addition to that, forestry has felt it necessary to ban camping at Long Point and Dixon Field (at least). I wouldn’t know if they have put similar restriction in other places. Camping has never been allowed at Haywood Landing.

I don’t want to pontificate on why these new restrictions have been placed on what have been popular camping sites for people who want to camp from their vehicle. Personally, I quit camping in those areas a long time ago because there are too many people with noisy generators, too much trash, etc. Also, I’m not comfortable camping in a place where people can be driving in and out all night.
I do use those locations to launch my kayaks. Thankfully, that is still an approved use and we haven’t been completely locked out. I try not to judge people, because I know everyone’s situation is different, but people who abuse their privileges just create unnecessary restrictions on all of us. That’s probably all I should say about that.
I went for a short hike down to Holsten Creek on Sunday morning. It was a cool morning, but the sun was warm and it turned into a beautiful day. I think I got more sun that I’ve gotten in a long time.
