Another Overnight Primitive Camping Trip

Estimated read time 2 min read

Well, I did it again. Fred joined me, although he was a late arrival (surprise!). I shouldn’t criticize poor Fred, he had work to do, then he had to make a run to Dollar General. I, on the other hand, life a life of leisure and I got to the campsite just as the sun was setting. I could have arrived earlier, but I took my time getting out of the house.

The good news is, I didn’t forget anything. The bad news is, I took almost everything. I really do over pack for these short trips. I could probably get by with a rain fly, a sleeping bag and my bedroom slippers. But if I didn’t take a camera, I wouldn’t be able to post photos!

It was a really nice night. The forest was peaceful and the temperature was nearly perfect for sleeping in a warm sleeping bag. The air was cool at sunrise, but I had a solution for that problem! I went back to sleep and didn’t get up until it was warming up (around 8:45). Did I mention I live a life of leisure? To be fair, it was a Sunday morning.

We stayed long enough to have lunch in the forest and take a short hike after lunch. The wind was really kicking up and we were expecting rain, so we were on our way home around 14:30.

We encountered a speedy black snake on our way out.
