A Walk in the Rain

I was just out in the forest today to see how much it was raining there. I didn’t walk far before I threw up a small rain fly, hung my hammock chair underneath it, and sat back to enjoy the cool, fresh air. I took a few photos, both as documentation, and because the colors are super saturated when everything is wet; it makes for some pretty images.

I made myself a hot lunch while I sat under my small rain fly (also advertised for use as a ground cloth) and watched the small stream that was not yet flowing, but was showing promise. After I finished eating, I packed up all my gear, took down my makeshift shelter, and hiked back out to Hillfield Road.

I managed to keep most of my gear dry; mostly because I wasn’t hiking that long and it wasn’t raining that hard and I wrapped myself in my tarp for my trek out. I think it was raining harder on my return trip than it was when I started my hike.

I’m hoping the streams get a boost. It’s still raining, as I write this blog entry at 22:00. The forecast is for rain all the way into Sunday (tomorrow). The forest can use all the rain it can get. I’ll probably go out there and have another look around, very soon.
