Weekend Overnight Camping

Estimated read time 1 min read

I took a short hike on the southside on Saturday before I set up camp in the same place I camped on October 12-13. I like that campsite for it’s easy access to the road, while still being remote enough to be quiet and private.

The good news is that the mosquitoes were not bad, although there were still a few left, the firewood was dry thanks to more than a week of dry weather, and the nighttime temps were nearly perfect for sleeping.

The bad news is that I woke up at 3:30am on Sunday with a migraine that didn’t go away until this morning (10/22). I was hoping to do some hiking on Sunday. It was a beautiful, sunny day, but instead, I hid in my hammock until about 10:00, then ate a little something, drank some coffee, packed up my gear and went home.

I did enjoy a pleasant night by a cheery campfire, and Fred came out to visit me for an hour or two. It’s probably a good thing he didn’t camp overnight, because I would not have been good company in the morning.
