A Short Hike on the South Side

Ready for a hike

I hadn’t been hiking in a few days and I was feeling like I really needed a hike. After it looked like Helene (or rather the outer rain bands of Helene) had cleared out, I drove to Hillfield Rd and started hiking the Weetock trail backwards. Fred showed up late, so we had to arrange a place to meet, as I had gone on ahead.

I probably hiked about 4 miles. Honestly, I didn’t keep track and we took a few detours. We definitely did not complete the entire south-side route. We had a brief rain shower, but it wasn’t enough to get through the canopy above us. However, much of the foliage we pushed through was dripping wet, so we did not stay dry. I didn’t mind being wet, though; it was hotter than I expected.

I don’t have much to tell. There were a lot of blazes on the ground. The trail is going to need work. I know, I’ve said that before. It’s a job for cooler, fall weather. If anyone wants to volunteer to help with trail cleanup, you can drop me a comment or just spend some time, cleaning your favorite section of trail. Every little bit helps!
