The Croatan has had enough rain that Holsten Creek is flowing nicely. It might even be a little on the high side, but it’s a nice change from when it was barely a trickle. We went for a short hike up the creek and enjoyed the cool water for a while. Fred was out of town, so I was joined by a lady friend. I set up my “zip line”, and we “zipped” down into the water a dozen or so times. It was a warm afternoon, but we could only stand being wet for so long, and it was well after lunch time!

After cooling off in the creek and behaving like children on the makeshift zip line, we went down to Long Point to have lunch. It was really windy there, so we retreated to a spot near Long Point road, just off the trail. It’s a nice, sheltered spot where there are lots of places to hang hammock chairs.
Thee was water flowing under the rickety bridge we had to cross. It was nice to see water there, again. I’ve been told I’m a water spirit. I know I’ve always loved the water. I sure would like to be spending more time in my kayak. Soon, I hope.
