A Full Moon Hike

The featured image was provided by Fred; I did not take any photos on this hike (Nov 28). David joined us and he brought his trusty trail dog so we wouldn’t get lost. The moon was almost full, and it was very bright. We traversed the entire southern section of the Weetock trail plus an added section at the beginning and a road walk at the end that probably added over a mile to what I believe is a 5 mile section. All in all, we hiked at least 6-7 miles (11-12 km). We departed from the parking area at the end of Hillfield Road a little after 8pm.

There were a couple of places where I had to backtrack to regain the trail. We were hiking in the opposite direction from my recent night hikes and there were some places that gave me the slip. I was carrying blue-and-white ribbon to fix those spots, but I didn’t want to take the time; as it was, we returned to the vehicles around midnight. I’ll have to re-walk the trail and add some blazes.

The Google Earth capture below shows a rough approximation of our route. I didn’t have my GPS turned on, so I have no detailed track. This should be pretty close.

I am an avid outdoors person. I recharge my batteries by hiking, kayaking, and spending time in nature. I created this blog to share some of my knowledge and experiences related to the Weetock trail and the surrounding natural areas, including the White Oak River and Hunters Creek.
