A Walk Through a Dry Swamp

Estimated read time 1 min read

I took a hike on the east side of HW58, somewhere south of Holsten Creek on January 3. I walked through a swamp that was devoid of water, thanks to the lack of rain. It was an interesting opportunity to hike a good distance among the craggy swamp trees, with very few impediments to navigation because I was hiking where there would normally be standing water. It felt like walking through a bayou without getting my feet wet. It also felt a little mystical, with the sun filtering through the canopy.

Hopefully, these photos will do a better job of illustrating my experience …
